Pitbulls!!

The most misunderstood dog in the world!!
What is the most misunderstood dog breed in America? The American Pitbull! It really irritates me when I say "pitbull" and people say "Why would you want that dog? They are so aggressive and dangerous!" NO THEY ARE NOT! In my honest opinion, it is the trainer that trains the dogs to be aggressive towards other dogs, and other people. If you train a pitbull at a young age, they will be the sweetest dog on the planet! These animals are strong, and beautiful dogs, but no one can see that because everyone (most people)think pitbulls are terrible because they are the ones in dog fights all the time. BUT GUESS WHAT? THE TRAINER TRAINS THEM TO FIGHT! The average pitbull weighs about 40 pounds and just need a long, daily walk and you will have an amazing dog if you train them right! The average life span of a pitbull is about 12 years. I do not have a pitbull myself, but it is definitely a dog that I am going to get when I grow up for sure. The thing to remember when you are getting a pitbull, is that the dog needs to know who is in charge. They need to know that you are not going to let bad behaivor go on without a negative  reaction. These dogs will be very protective of your whole family and it will know when it is okay to play as well. If you are going to have other dogs along with your pitbull, you need to raise them together from puppy hood. Next time you hear the breed Pitbull, don't automatically think "danger and fighter".

Pom Poms!!

Chewi!!!!
Hey People! This blog, is a blog about all kinds of different breeds of dogs! I have 5 dogs myself and I am wanting to be a veterinarian when I am older, so that is how I was inspired to write this blog! Today, lets talk about Pomerainians or Pom Poms. Just don't try to wave them around too much! :) I have one named Chewi and he is your average Pomerainian. Did you know the original pomerainians weighed about 30 pounds and also sheep hearders! While today they only weigh about 4 pounds and definitely not the sheep hearding type!! WOW! BIG DIFFERENCE!! The person responsible for this dramatic change in the pom poms size and activities, was the one and only, Queen Victoria! She is the one who bred them down to size and started making them show dogs. It was this reason that this breed of dog became so popular in England. If you are going to have a Pomerainian, make sure you have a large, fenced in yard, and are able to spend quite a bit of time grooming them. These dogs need a daily brushing and make sure that you can deal with some shedding! The life expectancy of this breed is about 15 years, and will make those years some of the best of your life! However, this breed is prone to heart, eye, and knee problems, but overall it has good health. One thing that is SUPER IMPORTANT, is that you teach it not to bark at a VERY young age. You might not have a ton of luck though, the Pomerainian is a very yappy breed and I should know. Sometimes when Chewi goes outside and starts barking (he will not come in) he doesn't stop. We have actually got the police called on us 3 times!! This dog is eager to please you, but teach it at a young age, and you'll be fine!! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR POMERAINIAN!! I will try to post every Thursday, so make sure you come back and check out more wonderful dogs!
